Lithuanian government backs car registration ban for fine dodgers

Such people would also be banned from registering a vehicle in their name.

The proposed amendments still need parliamentary approval.

Figures from the Lithuanian Traffic Police Service and the State Tax Inspectorate show that 409,926 traffic rules violations were recorded last year, with fines worth around EUR 11 million issued in 120,061 cases. Only around EUR 4.2 million-worth fines have been paid so far.
