Lithuanian leaders convey condolences over London terror

President Dalia Grybauskaitė wished strength to the victims’ families as well as hope and fortitude to all those affected by the attack.

The Lithuanian leader “condemned the barbaric attacks and unjustifiable brutality, and offered Lithuania’s firm solidarity with the residents of London and with the people of the United Kingdom,” the President’s Office said in a communique.

Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis emphasized that prevention of terrorism was an extremely difficult task for all agencies of Europe.

“In the struggle for security, societies and the law-enforcement of our countries must work together. Lithuania expresses solidarity with the United Kingdom, reaffirming its commitment to the efforts of the international community to fight the challenges of terrorism,” the prime minister said in his message.

The London attack was also condemned by Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius.

The Foreign Ministry said there had been no reports about injuries of Lithuanian citizens in the attack.
