Lithuanian leaders wish unity in their Christmas greetings

Dalia Grybauskaitė

According to the president, the most beautiful holiday of the year brings all Lithuania together.

“This evening, as we break the Christmas wafer, we also share kindness and hope. We remember those who are no longer with us. We wish strength, happiness and fulfillment to our most loved ones. So let us listen and hear, let us reach out and encourage. Let us cherish and value our home and homeland,” Grybauskaitė said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius noted that despite the geopolitical tension, the passing year has been fairly successful for Lithuania as the country has built its own LNG terminal and is about to join the eurozone.

“My dear fellow citizens, may the Christmas blessing come to the homes of your families, friends and loved ones. May unity, the joy of being together and the spirit of great hope be with you as the warmth of your hearts melts down the walls among people and the power of self-confidence destroys them among countries,” the prime minister said.
