Seven police patrols gave the thumbs up after testing the new uniforms.
“It took two years for Swedes to design the new uniform for Estonia. The Estonians then improved and tested it and gave their remarks. The Estonians proposed that we use that style. We had samples sewn for our officers,” Ramunas Matonis, the department’s spokesman, told BNS.
The police officers, who also tested new style Lithuanian uniforms, found the Estonian style to be much more comfortable, more functional and better adapted to weather conditions.
There are no estimates yet as to how much it will cost Lithuania to outfit all of its 8,400 police officers with new uniforms.
