“Lithuania Post is one of four organisations that will exchange the litas to the euro free of charge at the beginning of next year. We are making every endeavour to make this process smooth and professional; thus all measures are employed for easy and simple access to the new currency.

Starting on 2 January, almost fifty percent of all post offices will provide the currency exchange services. In some post offices, the currency will be exchanged by the postal staff, and some other post offices will engage mobile teams. We are going to recruit employees precisely for these teams,” Inga Dundulienė, director of Postal Network Division of Lithuania Post, said.

Lithuania Post will employ 1-2 new employees for a fixed-time work (1 January – 1 March 2015) in every region of Lithuania. The employees will be responsible for smooth currency exchange process, update of records in the information system used for the currency exchange, preparation of reports, etc.

By the end of this year, all employees of Lithuania Post will undergo special trainings related to the euro introduction. During the trainings, the employees will be instructed on how to identify the new currency and its security features as well as what actions to take in case they suspect counterfeit notes.
