“We have seen reports that Ukraine’s president said so. It should be said that cooperation in the defence area was indeed discussed and we stressed that Ukraine for us is not just a symbol. For us it represents a struggle of a country to be sovereign. Ukraine in fact is fighting not only for its own right to be sovereign, but also for all European countries’ right to be independent. That is why Ukraine was promised to be given any kind of help,” chief presidential advisor on interior policy Virginija Būdienė said on the Žinių Radijas radio on Tuesday.
Reuters reported that on Monday Ukrainian President Poroshenko said that Lithuania would provide Ukraine with some military aid to help Kiev in its fight against pro-Russian separatists in the east of the country.
“We have agreed on supplies of concrete elements of concrete armaments for the Ukrainian armed forces. This is real help,” Poroshenko said.
