Lithuanian prime minister promises raises in wages and social benefits next year

“The Political Council of the Coalition held a meeting recently. The minister of social security and labour introduced her vision for the upcoming year. However, it has not been decided yet when and how much the base pensions and insurance payments will grow.

According to Butkevičius, information was also submitted on plans to increase sickness and maternity benefits, minimum wages and salaries in the public sector.

“The programme will be coordinated with the Ministry of Finance in the nearest Political Council sitting. Financial possibilities of the country have to be assessed. Still, we will see increase in these areas from next year,” said Butkevičius.
