Lithuanian Social Democrats want ministerial secretaries reinstated

DELFI / Kiril Čachovskij

The author of the relevant amendments, Social Democratic MP Milda Petrauskienė, told BNS on Monday that the changes were endorsed by Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius and the Social Democrats’ parliamentary group.

Under the amendments, merely one vice-minister per ministry would be allowed instead of the current maximum of four, with the remaining three posts filled by ministerial secretaries – career public servants.
