Lithuanian theatre company wins two prizes in international festival in Russia

Koršunovas’ production of Krapp’s Last Tape won the Audience Choice Award, while The Seagull won the festival Critics’ Award. Last year the theatre company also received the Audience Choice Award for the production The Lower Depths.

This has been the 24th Baltic House festival. It is the biggest theatre forum in Russia, each year introducing new productions of the most prominent European theatre directors. The 2014 programme featured 15 plays and more than 150 foreign guests.

Oskaras Koršunovas said that the audience in Saint Petersburg was intellectual and understood theatre, while critics are hard to please. Therefore, he said, the two awards were a very meaningful recognition, especially when other well-known directors took part.
