The president of Linava is a member of the presidium consisting of 11 people. Linava’s statute stipulates that when a member of the presidium resigns, another one representing the same region has to be elected in the next congress. Therefore members of the association have to put forward candidates who will represent them at the general congress of 15 May, where a new president will be elected.
As reported, long-serving president of Linava, Algimantas Kondrusevičius, resigned on his own accord in early March, ostensibly due to poor situation in the freight forwarding market.
However, the road carriers’ association has appealed to the Prosecutor General‘s Office asking to investigate the actions of Kondrusevičius and former secretary general Ričardas Malkus. The audit of the association has allegedly revealed that both of them might have abused their office. The president maintained his innocence and said this was an attack on his person.
