Membership in political parties going up, trade unions down in Lithuania

Lithuania’s political parties involved 114,000 people in the end of last year, indicating an increase of 6,300 year-on-year.

Meanwhile the number of trade union members went down by 6.4 percent to 98,800 or 8.3 percent of all hired employees.

According to data provided by the Statistics Department, ranks of entrepreneur and employer associations swelled considerably last year, i.e., by 15 percent to 13,900 members in the end of 2013.
