Karolis Vaitkevičius, spokesman for the minister, said the meeting was held in response to the latest terrorist attacks across Europe to establish the mechanisms in place in the security companies to ensure safety during mass events.

“The minister wants to meet with heads of private companies to discus their readiness and checking procedures during mass events. They may need some help in light of the recent events worldwide,” Vaitkevičius told BNS.

The last terrorist attack took place in London last weekend when three attackers aboard a minivan ran into a crowd of pedestrians and later stabbed them with knives. At least six people were killed during the attack, in addition to another 50 hospitalized with injuries.
