“Seeing the pressure and aiming to preserve the nerves of my own and others, I am asking to be deleted from members of the Energy Commission, I do not want to have anything to do with the dirty processes,” he said at the parliament on Tuesday during a break in the plenary discussion of the conclusions drawn by the Anti-Corruption Commission.

“I am tired of being the Don Quixote,” Skardžius told BNS but refused to disclose his plans in connection to membership in the Economic Committee.

The Anti-Corruption Commission has found that Skardžius could have breached the provisions of the law on public and private interests in public service by having interest in the renewable energy sector and proposing related bills.

Skardžius’ wife has provided a loan to a Belarusian electricity production company Investenergostroj, which she has a 20-percent stake in. The company also has a loan from the Russian gas concern Gazprom’s bank Belgazprombank.
