The MP of the ruling Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union registered an amendment, stipulating that “citizens of Lithuania studying in schools of foreign countries and international organizations founded in Lithuania to complete programs of Lithuanian history, geography and citizenship.”
Jovaiša has suggested that the commitment for international schools would take effect starting the next academic year in September of 2018.
In his words, international schools operating in Lithuania are obligated to teach the Lithuanian language, while Lithuania’s history, geography and citizenship are left out in some of them.
