Before the appointment, Sartatavičius headed a public establishment Atviros Visuomenės Forumas (Open Society Forum), the publisher of magazines IQ and IQ Life. In the past he has worked as CEO of high-tech group of companies BOD Group.

He will replace retired officer Gintaras Satkus who stepped down after expiry of his term in office. Satkus will continue as an adviser to the association, it said on Wednesday.

Sartatatičius’ duties will include organization of executive tasks.

In his words, the production of Lithuanian manufacturers may benefit Lithuania’s Armed Forces and other structures, therefore, he expects a higher degree of synergy between Lithuanian defense industry companies and state institutions.

Arūnas Šikšta serves as president of the association.

“The president of the association is the strategic leader envisaging the general course and representing the association in Lithuania and abroad, while the director is the person who does executive work and specific tasks,” Sartatavičius told BNS.

The association unites about 50 members, including Lithuanian and foreign companies working in fields of research, innovation and technologies, IT, communication, cyber and energy security, manufacturing weaponry, munitions, outfits and gear, providing maintenance and repairs services for air, water and land military transport, working in fields of intelligence, surveillance, target detection and risk management.
