Nausėda leads list of potential candidates for president – Delfi/Spinter poll

Should the presidential election take place on the nearest weekend, Nausėda would be supported by 15.6 percent of respondents, shows the survey carried out by the pollster on Dec. 11-19 last year.

The list is continued by Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis and Kaunas Mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis, with 11.3 percent and 10.9 percent, respectively.

In the analogous survey conducted in November, Skvernelis was first with 12.2 percent of the vote, just ahead of Nausėda with 12 percent. Matijošaitis was then third with support of 9.5 percent of those polled.

According to the latest survey, the following figures include Social Democratic MEP Vilija Blinkevičiūtė (7.7 pct) and MP Naglis Puteikis (5.5 pct).

Further down the list there are three personalities that are usually surrounded by speculation of who could be the conservatives’ candidate for president. Former finance minister, MP Ingrida Šimonytė, is supported by 5.3 percent of respondents, EU’s former ambassador to Moscow Vygaudas Ušackas who is now pursuing an academic career is backed by 4 percent and MP Žygimantas Pavilionis is also supported by 4 percent of those polled.

Another 10.3 percent did not know who to support and 10.5 percent said they would not come to polling stations at all. The survey interviewed 1,006 respondents, with the margin error of 3.1 percent.
