New ferry company entering Klaipėda port

The company’s name has not been revealed yet, according to 15min.lt, but it will operate so-called ro-ro ships, suited for wheeled cargo like cars and trucks, and will be offering additional routes to the ones currently operated by DFDS Seaways.

DFDS ferries currently transport passengers from Klaipėda to Kiel in Germany and Karlshamn in Sweden.

“A new ro-ro company is to come to the Port of Klaipėda,” Arvydas Vaitkus, CEO if the port authority, told 15min.lt, adding he would not reveal more details before the deal was sealed.

The prospective company is very interested in doing business with the port and might start offering services as soon as this summer, he said.
