“It can only become more stagnant. Therefore, today I would like to wish the Government several things, encourage it to avoid the trap of stagnation so that we would not have to state that the four years of this Coalition in power was a complete loss to Lithuania,” Kubilius said during his press conference on Monday.

Kubilius says he wishes the Government of Algirdas Butkevičius not to remain apathetic and cynical, to see the problems and solve them sincerely instead of putting blame on the opposition. Kubilius also urged not to be pleased by the mere fact of holding ministers’ positions but to undertake real tasks instead of imitating work.

The leader of the opposition invited the Government to be more self-critical, admit mistakes and correct them, instead of putting blame on the conservatives or the president. Kubilius urged to refrain from thinking that all economic problems can be solved by primitive measures – increase of the minimum salary or increase of pensions and salaries of the public sector.

Moreover, the Government was encouraged not to put up with corruption and protectionism in the civil service. Among other things Kubilius proposed to listen to critical remarks and to engage in constructive debates with the Opposition and the intellectual society. The conservative leader of the Opposition concluded that the stagnant Government prevents the president from achieving any significant results.
