“We are waiting for the court to set the date of the hearing and we will ask for a special status to this case so that it could be heard as quickly as possible,” MP Remigijus Žemaitaitis, the party’s chairman, told the Žinių Radijas radio station on Friday.

“We are ready to cooperate,” he added.

Law-enforcement officials sent the case, in which formal suspicions were brought against the party as a legal entity, its former executive secretary Rimas Antanas Ručys, and five businessmen, to the court in May.

The five businessmen are Rolandas Skaisgirys, Peisachas Kačerginskis, Giedrius Rakauskas, Vytautas Banys and Justinas Garliauskas.

Prosecutors suspect that the party spent over 350,000 euros in funds allegedly obtained as bribes or through other illegal means on publicity.
