Social democrat Gintautas Paluckas said there was no rational reason to oppose the new tax: “The collected money could develop urban tourism infrastructure, promote flights and attract new guests.”
Paluckas said the tax is present in most European capitals. In Lithuania a pillow tax is already collected in the resorts of Birštonas, Druskininkai, Palanga and also Kaunas.
