President of Lithuanian National Road Carriers Association steps down

Algimantas Kondrusevičius
DELFI / Šarūnas Mažeika

He made the announcement on Thursday, at the meeting of Linava Vilnius region. According to the former president, he arrived at the decision having assessed the poor situation in the haulage market.

“I had the idea for a long time but tried to work concentrated for a year. In these difficult times carriers have to work hand in hand, but we are playing in the sandbox. This causes damage to business, to the whole sector,” Kondrusevičius told ELTA news agency on the phone. “Perhaps this way I will consolidate (the association – ELTA) and we will find a new leader who can continue working successfully.”

On 2 March Linava addressed the Prosecutor General‘s Office asking to assess Kondrusevičius’ and former secretary general Ricardas Malkus’ actions. An audit was carried out and revealed that the two men might have abused their positions. Kondrusevičius denies the accusations and says this is an attack on his person.
