In an interview to Verslo Žinios daily, the head of the government said that a new bill on the public service would be submitted to the parliament this fall, “envisaging different and more efficient principles of the truly complex system.”

“Without doubt, there will be ardent discussions within the political group, with coalition partners, the government and, of course, in the parliament. This is about optimization of the public service and making it more efficient. To put it shortly, we somehow managed to cope with the notorious challenge of the forestry sector in political ways, however, the number of challenges is far from declining,” said the prime minister.

Skvernelis, delegated by the ruling Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union, at the same time expressed hope that “common sense will prevail and the government and the ruling coalition will work in the fall session,” referring to the discussions in the LFGU coalition partner, the Social Democratic Party, about its future in the ruling bloc.
