Reduced VAT rate for books proposed in Lithuania

According to the MP, this would at least partially encourage publishing and make books more affordable to readers.

Previously, the Seimas considered a similar draft amendment to the Law on Value Added Tax and rejected it as the Government has indicated that the new 5-percent VAT rate on books and non-periodicals would cost LTL 3.5 million (EUR 1 million) to the state.
