In Karbauskis’ words, the party will distribute 300,000 copies of its newspaper shortly.

“We have communication issues and they have a very high cost in the people’s opinion of the work that we do. We will learn to improve the communication and deliver the message, explaining the reasons behind our decisions. We are preparing a newspaper of the party, which will be distributed in a large number of copies, as usual. It will be our instrument that we use to update every resident of Lithuania on our assessment and argumentation behind certain decisions and potential consequences,” he told journalists after a meeting of the party’s council in Naisiai, northern Lithuania, on Saturday.

Karbauskis said the party had been publishing the bulletin a few times a year until now, noting that the number of copies should now be increased.

The LFGU leader said he wanted to learn from his own mistakes when stubborn character sometimes causes him to lose control during some interviews.

Experts say that the ruling party’s plans to write a newspaper was due to misunderstandings with the traditional media.

Arijus Katauskas, senior partner at Nova Media public relations company, told BNS that the party had failed to make proper contacts with journalists.

“It is normal that when you fail to make proper contacts with the media and work with it by way of normal instruments of public relations, you choose the channel that you own,” the public relations expert said on Saturday.

His words were seconded by Kęstutis Grinius, associate professor of the Vilnius University’s International Relations and Political Science Institute who had worked in Radio Free Europe for years. Grinius said the LFGU leader’s position lately looked a lot like US President Donald Trump’s statements about the media.

“Karbauskis is starting to talk like Trump, as if he is doing everything well but the media covers it in bad light (…). Instead of looking at the mistakes he has made and the troubles he encountered, he says he is doing everything well but the bad media covers everything in bad manner,” he emphasized.
