The list of influential sports figures was compiled based on a survey by the Reitingai magazine of various elite groups and on a representative survey by the pollster Spinter Tyrimai.
Both the elite groups and the general public placed Sabonis at number one, Alekna at number two and Meilutytė at number three.
The top ten list also includes Daina Gudzinevičiūtė, president of the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee, and Šarūnas Jasikevičius, a former basketball player and now a coach, as well as rally driver Benediktas Vanagas, basketball player Jonas Valančiūnas, basketball coach Vladas Garastas, and tennis player Ričardas Berankis.
Half of the people on the top ten list are linked to basketball.
