Sharing economy, security issues to be discussed by World Lithuanian Youth

During the meeting of World Lithuanian Youth, experts in a range of fields will discuss issues crossing business, science, politics and cultural issues.

“We see that the meeting, which has already become a tradition, is more and more important every year. Increasing numbers of emigrants, a lack of tolerance in the society today and other highly topical issues in our country can and should be dealt with together through discussion. The main thing is that more and more people are no longer making those distinctions between Lithuanians as the locals and foreigners. We are all Lithuanians,” said the organizer of the meeting Ieva Davydenko.

The business and policy section will focus on the sharing economy, the lack of culture in Western business, tolerance, the threat to the Schengen area, Lithuania’s security issues, and regional development perspectives. Discussions in the science space will include topics like life sciences, the commercialization of science, and public mental health.

Visitors to the cultural space will be invited to discuss the relationship between different generations of creators, propaganda in the media and the arts.

In the past Lithuanians from 43 countries accounted for about one third of the visitors. Lithuanians travelled to the meeting from the United States, Asia, Canada, Australia, Venezuela and a number of European countries.
