Vladimir Antonov, the former owner of the Snoras Bank which was nationalized and went under after revelations of large-scale embezzlement, has turned to the Moscow Arbitration Court demanding a compensation from Lithuania.
He demands 40 billion roubles (€555 million) from the Lithuanian Ministry of Justice, RIA Novosti informs.
Antonov and Raimondas Baranauskas have been hiding from the Lithuanian law enforcement in United Kingdom after the Snoras bank went under in 2011. After their appeals against extradition were turned down, the two fled the UK and currently residing Russia.
Antonov demands 20 billion roubles in direct damages and 20 billion more as compensation for his reputation.
He also said he wants Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė, who has made comments about the Snoras bank bankruptcy, to retract her statements.
Antonov and Baranauskas are wanted in Lithuania for alleged large-scale misappropriation of assets.
Antonov is currently in the Lithuanian police‘s list of top ten most wanted individuals.
