He spoke after Social Democratic MP Mindaugas Bastys decided not to join any group of the Social Democrats.
“Now we do not have the 7 th member, therefore, will clearly have to join the mixed group where we will form the majority,” Paluckas told BNS.
In his words, entry negotiations are currently in progress with a few members of the disobedient Social Democrats but they can take “a few days or a week.”
“About the political group – we will search for the 7 th persons to form it. As I have said repeatedly, the Social Democratic Party will have a group. If this comes at a price of support to Mindaugas Bastys and his temporary being in the mixed group – this is the price we are willing to pay. We will not exchange public support to Mindaugas Bastys for instant forming the political group,” said the Social Democratic Party’s leader.
Under the Seimas statute, a political group can be formed by at least seven members of the parliament.
The party’s decision to terminate the coalition with LFGU was objected by the following 10 MPs who have enough votes for a political group, namely, Gediminas Kirkilas, Juozas Bernatonis, Irėna Šiaulienė, Algirdas Butkevičius, Linas Linkevičius, Andrius Palionis, Rimante Salaseviciute, Rimantas Sinkevičius, Antanas Vinkus and Arturas Skardžius.
Meanwhile, the other part that obeyed the party’s will are the following six MPs: Raminta Popoviene, Rasa Budbergyte, Juozas Olekas, Algimantas Salamakinas, Julius Sabatauskas and Algirdas Sysas.
