Lithuania almost two years ago pledged to take in a total of 1,105 refugees from such countries as Syria, Iraq or Eritrea under the EU program. A total of 309 migrants have been relocated so far.

According to the paper, Interior Minister Eimutis Misiunas will go to Italy next week to meet with Italian officials and discuss how to expedite the relocation of asylum-seekers temporarily housed in the country to Lithuania. Seventeen refugees have until now arrived to Lithuania from Italy, compared with 267 from Greece.
