Turnover of retail trade companies in Lithuania down 1.1 percent in August

Over a month, the turnover of enterprises trading in food products decreased by 1.1 percent, of those engaged in retail trade in automotive fuels – 3.6 percent, of those engaged in trading in non-food products increased by 0.2 percent at constant prices. The largest increase in turnover was observed in retail sale of books (63.9 percent), footwear and leather goods (27.6 percent) in specialised stores.

In August 2014, against August 2013, the turnover (VAT excluded) of retail trade enterprises increased by 3.6 percent at constant prices (working day adjusted – 4.7 percent). The turnover of enterprises trading in food products increased by 1.9, of those engaged in retail trade in automotive fuels – 3.5, of those engaged in retail trade in non-food products – 5.7 percent at constant prices. The largest increase in turnover was observed in retail sale via mail order houses or via the Internet (35.8 percent).

In August 2014, the turnover (VAT excluded) of food and beverage service enterprises amounted to LTL 151.9 million (EUR 44 million) and, against July, decreased by 4.6 percent at constant prices. Compared to August 2013, the turnover of enterprises engaged in the said activities grew by 4.1 percent at constant prices.
