Vilnius prison to allow Muslim prayer

DELFI / Šarūnas Mažeika

The Seimas’ Ombudsmen’s Office says Viktoras Davidenko, the prison’s director, made changes in detainees’ daily regime following Seimas ombudsman Augustinas Normantas’ recommendations.

Normantas turned to the prison’s management following a detainee’s complaint.

Davidenko invited a representative of the Sunni Muslim community to introduce the prison’s administration to the aspects of the Muslim religion. The representative said he could come to the prison on Friday to perform religious rites for at least three people.
