Vilnius reintroducing night bus service

DELFI / Šarūnas Mažeika

Night bus service will be provided on nights from Fridays to Saturdays and Saturdays to Sundays, as well as on nights before public holidays.

Five bus routes will be available. The route network has been laid out to allow a safe journey from the city centre to the most densely populated neighbourhoods.

It is hoped that the service will not be loss-making and will improve public transportation at night time. Buses will run from 11.30 PM to 3 AM every 45-50 minutes. Passengers will have to purchase 1-euro pass on board, as ordinary monthly tickets will not be valid for the night service. New buses will be used for the night service, passenger compartments will be monitored by cameras for security purposes, while entrance will be allowed only through the front doors.
