Baltic and Polish defence ministers agree on joint anti-Russia response

“The Baltic ministers endorsed the coordination guidelines of the Baltic operation plans. The Baltic states’ Defence Staff Element, currently under formation, will have to draw up specific plans for the Baltic states’ response to a potential military crisis,” the statement said.

Lithuanian National Defence Minister Juozas Olekas called for jointly seeking the implementation of the decisions made at the NATO summit in Wales, putting emphasis on the presence of permanent NATO forces, the establishment of NATO control and command elements and prepositioning of weaponry and equipment in the Baltic states and Poland.

Minister of Olekas also invited his counterparts for follow Lithuania’s example and consider providing military assistance to Ukraine.

“It would demonstrate our solidarity with Ukraine in their fight for freedom and independence against Russia’s aggression,” Olekas said.
