Baltic States and Poland ask EU to ease trade restrictions on pig farmers

In the petition sent to European Commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis (Lithuania), the ministers also ask for additional financial support for prevention of African swine fever in the region.

“It is important for all of Europe for us to be able to put a stop to the spreading of the disease, to keep it from spreading to other member-states,” said Estonia’s Minister of Rural Life Urmas Kruuse. He added that this is why the ministers have requested that the European Commission increase the co-financing of Baltic-Polish joint prevention measures to 100 percent.
