The statement purportedly sent from the AEDH claims that an American soldier died of Ebola in Rukla. Soon afterwards the US allies denied the information. Furthermore, the AEDH also denied that it had sent such a letter.
Representatives of the Ministry of National Defence say the false information is aimed at discrediting both Lithuania and NATO, also to spread panic among residents of Rukla (a town where the Armed Forces are stationed – ELTA). The Ministry of National Defence has not commented on who might have spread the false information claiming to represent the AEDH.
