Lucas, the editor at The Economist weekly, made the statement in a video address that was played at the awards ceremony of Global Lithuanian Awards 2014 at the President’s Office where he was awarded For Friendship.

“I am glad to be able to say that I am a friend of Lithuania. I only wish for the West to wake up – Lithuanians and others have warned of years of Russian repressions at home and threats of aggression abroad against Lithuania and the rest of the globe,” Lucas said in his Lithuanian-language address.

“I have done, I am doing and will do everything possible, but we need help in this information warfare. I am asking the whole Lithuanian diaspora to help Lithuania today,” he added.

Organized by Global Lithuanian Leaders, the awards celebrate Lithuanians whose professional achievements open international opportunities for Lithuania.
