Fewer workplace accidents reported in Lithuania

While the number of lethal accidents in workplace remains virtually unchanged this year, serious workplace accidents have declined, says Lithuania’s State Labour Inspectorate.

In total, 27 people died and 80 were seriously injured at work so far this year.

According to the head of accident and occupational diseases department Saulius Balčiūnas, most of these accidents have occurred in the construction sector.

Usually in such cases inspectors find safety rule violations. About 40% of the accidents are caused by workers themselves.
