Team Lithuania will, according to the forecasts by the New-York based Associated Press, bring home one gold medal, one silver and two bronze medals.

Lithuania’s golden swimmer Rūta Meilutytė will, according to AP, win silver in the 100m breaststroke event. However, the prediction has her lose to Russian Yulia Efimova, who has been banned from the Games and will not compete.

Pentathlete Laura Asadauskaitė is expected to win gold. Rowers Donata Vištaraitė and Milda Valčiukaitė are likely to come in third in a doubles event, as are the new pair of rowers Saulius Ritter and Mindaugas Griškonis.

Lithuanian sports fans also have high hopes for the country’s basketball team. AP believes the Lithuanians will be fourth, with the medal set going to the Americans, France and Spain.
