Under the new regime, the permits to drive on the state roads for over-dimensioned and heavy goods vehicles (their combinations) with a maximum authorized mass not exceeding 48 tonnes will be given for a month (hitherto, the permits were issued for each movement). The prerequisite, however, is that the dimensions of axle (axles) load, height, width and length shall not exceed the maximum authorized amounts when driving with freight or without it.
“The reason for this amendment is to reduce the administrative burden and, thereby, facilitate the business environment for haulers where each movement will not require a separate permit,” said Minister Sinkevicius.
For the carriers convenience, from now on the monthly permits will be issued for over-dimensioned and heavy goods vehicles with 6 or more axles consisting of motor vehicle with paired rear wheels and trailer with paired wheels and a maximum permissible gross laden weight of 48 tonnes.
The amendment came into force on 1 August 2015.
