Lithuania one of the biggest energy importers in EU

In 2014 Lithuania imported nearly 78% of its total energy consumption, according to Eurostat. Only Malta, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Ireland and Belgium were more dependent on imported energy among EU countries.

However, Latvia‘s and Estonia‘s energy dependency in 2014 was the lowest since 1990. According to Eurostat, in the EU as a whole imported energy suppled 53% of the total energy consumption in 2014.
