Lithuanians dominated the first half of the match and, at the end of the second quarter, had a 30 point lead (56:26).
The second part of the game was dominated by the Brazilians as they steadily came back to the game. At less than two minutes until the end of the match, the Lithuanian lead had nearly vanished (75:71). However, the Lithuanians defeated the Brazilian team and won a difficult and important first victory in the Rio de Janeiro Games.
Group B also includes Argentina, Spain, Croatia and Nigeria.
