A symbolic farewell ceremony for the helicopter and the crew from the SBGS Aviation Unit will be held in the unit’s base in the Trakai district.
The Poseidon 2015 operation is organized by the European Union‘s Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders (Frontex), the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service said.
SBGS helicopter crews have served in similar operations in the Mediterranean region between 2008 and 2012.
