During the incidents, the NATO jets identified and accompanied a Russian IL-76 strategic transport airplane and an An-26 transport airplane, which were both flying in line with submitted flight plans, with their transponders switched on and in contact with flight control, reads the press release.
NATO fighter-jets last year were scrambled about 150 times over Russian military airplanes flying near the Baltic states, indicating a three-fold increase from 2013.
