“Under the preliminary plan, the US heavy company will arrive in Lithuania on February 7-9 with 10 Abrams tanks,” Captain Donatas Suchockis, spokesman for the Lithuanian Army‘s Land Forces, told BNS on Tuesday.

About 80 troops will arrive to Lithuania from Poland, a place where the US recently stationed its brigade.

The US troops will also bring five infantry fighting vehicles Bradley.

The new US shift will replace the 280 troops who have been deployed in Lithuania for the past five years.

The US has been sending a company of troops to Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland each since 2014 in response to Russian actions in Ukraine and the Baltic Sea region. Later this year, each of the four countries will receive a NATO battalion.
