Peasants mull revising parliamentary agreement on defence

Ramūnas Karbauskis, the ruling party’s chairman, says that the agreement should underline the commitment of parliamentary parties to meet NATO’s 2 percent of GDP target for defence spending as soon as in 2018.

The lawmaker thinks that his initiative to introduce mandatory military education at schools and universities should be also reflected in the document.

Social Democratic MP Juozas Olekas and Conservative MP Andrius Kubilius told the paper that they were skeptical about the idea of mandatory military classes at schools.
