“If we look at the statistics of recent years, most of professionals we are speaking about have been coming from Ukraine,” Skvernelis said on the Žinių Radijas radio station.

“I believe we see the same process in neighboring Poland. The situation is even more liberal there. As far as we know, there are several tens of thousands of Ukrainians (in Poland) who are successfully integrating into the labor market, are adding value and contributing to business development,” he said.

According to the prime minister, the government has put in place sufficient safeguards to ensure that the employment of foreigners do not adversely affect the salaries of local workers.

The government approved on Wednesday a list of 27 professions, including programmers, IT specialists, engineers of various specialties and technicians, that require high professional qualifications and for which there are not enough local workers. It will be easier for such professionals from non-EU countries to get employment in Lithuania.
