Two Lithuanians died during floods in Spain

“Based on the information we have, two Lithuania citizens died during heavy rain in the Granada region,” Kęstutis Vaškelevičius, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said.

Spanish news agency EFE cited local officials who said that two Lithuanian citizens, aged 63 and 50, lost their lives during the natural disaster and a third person, thought also to be Lithuanian, is missing.

The body of one of the Lithuanians was found 30km from the place where he was hit by the flow of water.

Weather alerts have recently been issued for five Spanish provinces. This covers Alicante and Valencia in the Comunidad Valenciana which can expect heavy rain and are on an orange alert level. Neighbouring Murcia is also on a yellow alert, along with Castellon and the islands of Ibiza and Formentera.
