US soldiers will get to know Lithuania’s geographical characteristics

The crews will take off from the Gediminas Headquarters Battalion in Kairiūkštis str., Vilnius, the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence informs

The troops apologise in advance for the inconvenience they might cause.

On July 1, roughly 80 soldiers of the Mission Command Element (MCE) of the 4th Infantry Division, U.S. Army, arrived in Lithuania. The MCE soldiers will be training at Adolfas Ramanauskas Warfare Training Centre Nemenčinė till July 8 and will also join training exercises across several regions of Lithuania to familiarise with their specifics and geography.

The 4th Infantry Division Headquarters is stationed in the United States of America, while the Mission Command Element is deployed in Germany and serves as an intermediate headquarters responsible for the U.S.-led Operation Atlantic Resolve in the Baltic States, Poland, Bulgaria and Romania.

The United States commenced Operation Atlantic Resolve in spring 2014 following the aggressive Russia’s action in Ukraine to demonstrate its commitment to the security of NATO allies and contributes to the implementation of the agreed NATO measures of deterrence by boosting interoperability amongst allied nations through various types of exercises and training.
