
Leškevičius will assume the office on 18 February.
The president also withdrew Leškevičius as Lithuania’s Ambassador to the Council of Europe from 17 February.
Leškevičius started work at the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in 1996 as an advisor to the foreign minister. He later worked in and headed a number of the MFA’s departments and Lithuania’s foreign representations. In 2011-2012 he was the MFA’s director of policy, while in 2012-2014 a deputy minister of foreign affairs.
