The Ministry of Education and Science will use the money to cover education and accommodation costs for 15 children and an accompanying teacher from September until the end of December.

Lithuania is currently implementing several projects providing aid to Ukrainian children. Children from eastern Ukraine attend a school in Vilnius, and Lithuania and Sweden co-fund short-tem visits of children from affected Ukrainian regions to Lithuania, organize creative camps and train teachers and therapists.

Lithuanian has been receiving Ukrainian children from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions since 2014 when Russia annexed the region of Crimea and started backing pro-Russian separatists in the east of the country.
